Pages from your Librarian

It’s fall at the library! October is the month for Halloween, pumpkins, and other fun fall programming. Preschoolers can enjoy one of our Halloween parties or make a fun fall leaf project at Preschool Picasso. Tweens can enjoy bingo, Lego club, or try a candy taste test. Check out Oktoberfest at our South Branch or the Toddler Dance Party at our North Branch. Families can enjoy a Pizza Party together at West River or join us for a Monster Mash at Central. If you’re interested in creating your own awesome Halloween costume along with make-up, check out the three-part It’s Alive program at West River. And don’t forget to visit the Carlyle Reservation in LaGrange for the Spooky Storybook Stroll from Oct. 14-31, a collaboration between the Elyria Public Library System and the Lorain County Metroparks.

Tours, storytimes, and group visits may be scheduled for school classes, scout groups, day cares, and parent groups. To schedule a visit, please call EPLS staff at least three weeks in advance.

Early Literacy

Our children's rooms are full of wonderous adventures waiting to be explored by your little ones. We want to help build the skills your child needs to be ready for school by working with them to develop early literacy and learning skills, such as talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing.

Homework Help

Stop in for a quiet area and large tables to get your homework completed. Use our online research tools.

Cards & Computers

The children's Room computers are just for kids! You'll need a student ID or library card to sign on. Don't have a library card? We have a Children's 3 for ME card for kids under 12.
