Pages from your Librarian
Since 1906, researchers have documented summer learning losses, or the "summer slide" by noting that students' fall achievement test scores tend to be markedly lower than the scores they achieved a few months earlier during the spring.
The Elyria Public Library System's annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) is designed to help combat this phenomenon with incentive based reading and a variety of programs aimed at keeping kids interested in reading and comprehending throughout the summer months. By having your child participate in this program, you are ensuring a great start to the next school year!
Tours, storytimes, and group visits may be scheduled for school classes, scout groups, day cares, and parent groups. To schedule a visit, please call EPLS staff at least three weeks in advance.

Our children's rooms are full of wonderous adventures waiting to be explored by your little ones. We want to help build the skills your child needs to be ready for school by working with them to develop early literacy and learning skills, such as talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing.
Stop in for a quiet area and large tables to get your homework completed. Use our online research tools.
Cards & Computers
The children's Room computers are just for kids! You'll need a student ID or library card to sign on. Don't have a library card? We have a Children's 3 for ME card for kids under 12.
